It became a territory on March 2, 1819.Arkansas's statehood is June 15, 1836. It is the 25th state.
First Woman Senate
Rebecca Latimer Felton was the first women in the Senate. She only has served for one day in 1922 for Georgia. The first woman to win was Hattie Caraway.

Diamonds Discovered
In August of 1906 diamond were discovered on an Arkansas farm. This started when a farmer named John Wesley Huddleston found a “glittering pebble” on his land. This land is now a diamond mining area where people find thousands of diamon.

First Oil Well
The first oil well that was yielded sufficient quantities of oil was Hunter No.1. It was drilled near Stephens, in Ouachita Country. After a while they found gas in the northern part of the present EI Dorado field in Union County.
